What Telegram gifts are
A gift is a profile decoration everyone sees when they open your account. Regular gifts are bought with stars and cost little. Rare ones become NFTs: supply is limited, they trade on the secondary market and prices reach hundreds or thousands of dollars.
Why put them on at all
For a regular user it is aesthetics. For a blogger, a seller or a channel admin it is a status signal: a profile with a rare gift reads as "this person has been around and invests in their account". That affects trust more than it seems.
Buying: pros and cons
Pros: the gift is yours forever, it can be resold, and rare pieces appreciate.
Cons: an entry ticket in the hundreds of dollars, money locked in an asset, and an illiquid market — selling quickly at a good price does not always work.
Renting: pros and cons
Pros: dozens of times cheaper, terms from a single day, and the gift looks exactly like a purchased one on the profile.
Cons: the gift is not yours, it cannot be resold, and it returns to the owner when the term ends.
How to choose
If the gift is for show — profile styling, a launch, a contest, a season — renting covers it for pocket change. If you treat gifts as a collection or an investment, buy. The middle path also works: rent one, see how it looks on your profile and only then decide about buying.
